MLM lead generation is the secret tool of successful network marketers. It creates fresh, exclusive, responsive leads of every type. Phone leads, email leads, and mailing lists.

My sponsor and his team leaders would all get up and extoll the virtues of the company and its products for an hour.

It didn't seem duplicable. I don't like public speaking even to this day. I didn't want the overhead expense that my sponsor was incurring. It was out of my reach.

There had to be a better way.

Well, the company I was originally with, went out of business. That is so typical of many young MLM companies.

One day a postcard arrived in my mailbox. It was marketing an MLM opportunity. It sounded interesting, so I responded by mail and joined the opportunity.

My sponsor quit the business shortly after my joining. Fortunately for me, my upline had developed an MLM lead generation system.

My new sponsor used mailorder techniques to sponsor people into the business. He made his sales letter available to his downline to duplicate and use.

I had dabbled in mailorder before, so I decided to run 5 business opportunities classified ads in national magazines such as Popular Mechanics, Entrepreneur, and Success magazine, to name a few.

After three months, my classified ads were published and the magazines available on the magazine racks.

My first inquiries began to trickle in. To each inquiry, I mailed my sponsor's sales letter, a return envelope and the company's application and literature.

Each small 10 - 20 word ad pulled about 50 - 100 inquiries a month. About 10% of the people I mailed my information package to, signed up into my downline. That was about 20-30 new distributors per month.

Some people would call us first to ask their questions, and then send in their distributor application. Others would sign up like I did without calling and asking any questions.

After a few months, I began allowing my downline to purchase these fresh MLM leads from me. Several did, and they too started sponsoring people into their downlines.

By buying network marketing leads from me, they didn't have to wait the three month lead time it takes for an ad to appear in print.

This creates excitement! A new distributor, can quickly start sponsoring and selling products. They are less likely to quit, when they can see that they too can duplicate your actions.

Benefits of Mailorder Sponsoring

What can we learn from this story? There isn't any need for opportunity meetings. There isn't any need to try to sponsor friends and relatives.

Anyone can mail a sales letter and a few brochures to inquiries from an ad. Rejection is easier to take using this method.

People who want the human touch can call you. You also develop a mailing list you can use again in the future.

Best of all, it works!

A faster way of building a downline by mail, is to mail a good sales letter to thousands of people on your mailing list. You can have your prospects respond in the way you want then to, by phone, mail, or ?

If you have a mailing list created from earlier activities, use this list. These people have some relationship with you.

The drawback of direct mail, is the cost to mail a letter today. At 42 cents, mailing 5,000 letters will cost you $2,100.00 in postage alone. Add printing cost plus your time, and the cost is much higher.

You can expect about 0.5% to 1% inquiry response from a cold mailing list. This is typical for mailorder.

Fortunately, there is a better way, today.

The Internet opens up superior ways to develop MLM lead generation techniques and tools.

Today, I recommend building a theme based website around your MLM products and opportunity without mentioning your company's name or products by name.
